 This week at school, we:

- finished learning about literary elements such as theme, plot and setting.  We are almost ready to start our reading race challenge

- learned about the growing conditions of trees and tree cookies

- reviewed adding both whole and decimal numbers

- wrote our unit test for integers

- finished our book 'No time to say goodbye' and had a class discussion about residential schools and the impact they have had on indigenous peoples and their communities.  We also discussed Orange Shirt Day and how we can work towards reconciliation in our school and in our communities.

 This week at school, we:

- have been learning about photosynthesis, the nutrient cycle, and food chains

- had our faces traced by Ms. Dyck so we can complete a 'Shades of Me' art project

- learned how to add and subtract integers

- have continued to read 'No Time to Say Goodbye'

- learned about metaphors and similes as well as idioms

 This week at school, we:

- learned about opposite integers and worked on comparing integers as well

- learned about the rules for a tree to be a tree as well as the parts of the tree and the job each part has in keeping the tree alive

- started to learn about different types of narration (first and third person) as well as the types of characters in books (round/flat, dynamic/static, main/supporting)

- practiced alliteration and will learn more about figurative language next week

 Today at school, we:

- played zombie dodgeball and last man standing dodgeball

- learned about the rules for a tree

- did not get to go out for recess because of the smoke

- learned a bit about integers and started to make a visual journal page to show what we know about the rules for integers

- got to visit Mrs. Watson in Library

- started our whole class read aloud/novel study on the book 'No Time to Say Goodbye' by Sylvia Olsen

- learned about alliteration
